People other stimulant substances contained in energy drinks

People that drink more than one bottle of energy drink a day
will receive large amounts of unnecessary ingredients and may encounter some
side effects. Most people that drink them are usually teenagers. Teenagers are
not fully capable to hold in so much caffeine. Energy drinks are unacceptable
for the body; they have a high dosage of caffeine. Drinking caffeinated drinks
will hurt you on the long run in life. Cutting energy drinks from your daily
meals is safest thing you could do. Energetic drinks should be banned for
teenagers under 18 because their body is not capable of withstanding that much
caffeine.

Teenagers have low caffeine tolerance and are more
vulnerable to the effects of caffeine. Most of the energy drink incidents have involved
children and adolescents. Kids with a history of health problems and drinking caffeinated
drinks is something to worry about, it can cause a high risk of high blood pressure,
arrhythmia, and death. High caffeinated energy drinks are now everywhere and
their highest consumer is young people. “High acute consumption of
caffeine increases the risk of toxic effects, particularly in children and
adolescents who have not developed tolerance to caffeine” (Pollard et al
2nd paragraph).

The substance can cause a high risk of harm that it should be
banned or be restricted to anyone under the age of 18. Energy drinks may
contain a maximum amount of caffeine per drink, it is equivalent to the amount
of 47 mg of caffeine. Standards for a nutrition fact label is to provide how
much is recommended for daily intake and restrict those who are sensitive to
caffeine. Instead, the nutrition fact label is poor and doesn’t show the
specific age limit for the drink. Consumers that drink these products often
exceed recommended maximum intakes. This is really easy to do when purchasing a
package, which will quadruple the maximum intake. “Rigorous review and
analysis of the literature reveals that caffeine and other stimulant substances
contained in energy drinks have no place in the diet of children and
adolescents”(“Sports Drinks and Energy Drinks for Children and Adolescents:
Are They Appropriate?”).

Energy drink manufacturers at the
moment have no restrictions toward children. Most industries that advertise
their energy drink are not directed at anyone, but children get more attracted
to the drinks because the advertising is more humorous and entertaining to
them. The Europeans specify in labelling the drinks, says it is not for
children. In Canada their rules are to restrict caffeine content, and to ban
marketing towards children. Shockingly, the same substance is poorly restricted
in the United States, which has one of the largest markets worldwide for this
substance. The U.S. does not demand a maximum limit on caffeine in energy
drinks, or have any restrictions on the sale to children. “A major proportion
of US households with children, consume more energy drinks compared to those
without children “(Research and Markets
Adds Report: United States Energy Drink Market).

There is a low amount of evidence that
shows how energy drinks are safe. So, to be safe about it, the U.S. should ban
their sale to anyone under 18. This is achievable in supermarkets and gas
stations that already stock age restricted products such as tobacco and scratch
to win lottery tickets. In France it has been proven that age restricting the
product has lowered the cases about people being harmed by the product. Such a
ban could be lifted if the evidence shows they are guaranteed safe.

 Companies only motto
is to make profit and don’t really care about the health of the community. In
the end, it is the government’s responsibility to prevent harm to their people in
the absence of evidence of safety. People need to start relying on themselves
instead of industries who look for loopholes and just try to make money.

An energy drink when a person is
having one of those long days is okay, but daily intake may have a couple of
health effects. The amount of sugar in the substance can also be a health
problem. The reason is that energy drinks usually have a variety ingredient,
there will be a long list to how they’ll affect your body in the long term.

It can be hard to keep track because these energy products
are shown to be safer to other types of energy drinks when there isn’t much of a
difference in them. Some may say that they are sugar free, but you’re still
taking the same high levels of B vitamins and other ingredients you would find
in other energy drinks that can cause harm.

As most caffeine consumers should already
know that daily caffeine consumption can lead to being dependent for some
people. Some symptoms, such as headache or fatigue, are common after drinking 3
cans or more a day. “Within 4 hours of energy drink consumption,
on Days 1 and 7, respectively, SBP increased by 7.9% (p = 0.006) and 9.6% (p
< 0.001), HR increased by 7.8% (p = 0.009) and 11.0% (p < 0,001). and QTc interval increased by 2.4% (p = 0.368) and 5.0% (p = 0.052), DBP increased by 7.0% < p = 0.046) and 7.8% (p = 0.063) within 2 hours of energy drink consumption on Days 1 and 7, respectively." (Steinke)  The only good thing people can get out of energy drinks are a good energy boost, wakes up the body. Also gives a good source of vitamin B which can help with moods and help fight heart disease. Energy drinks have B12 who help keep the red blood cells and nerves healthy, and also helps maintain a healthy digestive system. B6 is also included in the drink and it helps with the cardiovascular, immune and nervous system to function better.

Niacin helps to relieve pain from arthritis and lower blood lipids in the body.

The ingredient riboflavin that’s included in the drinks can relieve muscle
cramps and help with blood disorders. These are some advantages people can get
out of energy drinks. They can help people to start their day quicker and
focused by drinking these products. It can help with school when students are
doing their essays at midnight and need that one last energy boost to finish
the essay. There’s many ways this product could help in.

 The ingredients that
cause a bad effect on your body in the energy drink are so many that it should
be banned. Caffeine is used in most energy drinks and also one of the most bought
substance in every country. Higher dosages can lead to symptoms like increased
blood pressure, Heart palpitations, Anxiety and panic attacks. Some people can
become tired after drinking caffeine. This is known to be a symptom of adrenal
fatigue where the body’s adrenaline system has been used excessively by the high
caffeine levels. Some people may think to drink more energy drinks to get their
energy back up but its just making it worse. They would have to let their
adrenal glands rest. If the consumption still keeps happening the symptoms will
now be severe and can cause type 2 diabetes and tooth decay because of the
excessive amount of sugar. An excessive amount of B Vitamins can cause flushing
of the skin or it can result in liver toxicity. “Liver biopsy showed severe
acute hepatitis with bridging necrosis and marked cholestasis.” (Rare cause of acute hepatitis:
a common energy drink).

The safest thing for yourself
is getting rid of energy drinks. If people drink energy products
responsibly and use energy drinks occasionally, then most will likely avoid any
of the energy drink side effects. Coffee is certainly a healthier source than
drinking energy drinks. In general, it is better to avoid the large caffeinated
drinks and stick to water or anything that has a minimum amount of sugar.

The Government should ban
energy drinks being bought for anyone under 18. They have too much ingredients
to harm the young people who don’t really think twice on what they do.

Teenagers are not capable of handling excessive amounts of caffeine or B
vitamin in their system. There is evidence that it will hurt the consumer in
the long run if not taken care of or exclude the drink from their life.
