Young Person of the YearIt’s not every day you meet someone as humble and down to earth as Owen Wilson. Owen won the Young Person of the Year award in 2015. He won because of his work with the sick and poor.Owen Wilson was an orphan who grew up in an orphanage in London. He was born in 1997 and his parents were killed in a car accident when he was two years old. Owen had no remaining relatives so he was placed in an orphanage. Even though he has been through a lot, he is still very friendly and outgoing.Owen has been helping the sick and poor for as long as he can remember. He started off by helping his friends with their homework and even donating his pencils and rubbers to those who had none. His grades weren’t the best during his time in school, but he always enjoyed helping other orphans getting better grades, so they could have a good future. This year Owen Wilson opened his house up to the public, so everyone who needed a place to stay could come live with Owen for as long as they liked. He cooked food and spent almost all of his money helping the homeless get a place to stay. The people behind the Young Person of the Year met Owen around this time and were impressed with the work he has put into this. They had no doubt that Owen was going to be nominated for the award. They had just met a guy who has sacrificed everything he has to help those in need.I had the chance to interview Owen right after he won the award and I have to say that I’m quite impressed with how humble he is. He doesn’t care about the publicity or money. All he wants to do is help those who are not doing so well. I asked Owen about what he is going to do now that he has won an award. He said that he isn’t going to change, but he is very happy that him being at the award show has brought attention to helping the sick and poor. He hopes that more people will be willing to help those who have less than others because of the media attention this has gotten.
